Hollywood Nominees Will Receive NFT Tokens In Recognition Of Their Talents
Award ceremonies are interesting not only in world cinema but also in the cryptocurrency field. Just before the start of the award season, the Nomine(eth) project appeared. It was created in collaboration between NFT auction Rarible, metaverse builder Metaversal, and digital agency AdVenture Media.
The project has created unique gift sets of three non-fungible tokens for 25 Oscars nominees. The list includes representatives of the following nominations:
- Best Actor;
- Best Actress;
- Best Supporting Actor;
- Best Supporting Actress
- Best Director.
All digital creations are made by renowned digital artists such as John Norlander, Shailene Wallace, Rocco DiSpirito, etc. Moreover, each NFT will contain the name of the recipient. And if an actor, actress, or director wins the nomination, then he/she will be presented with an additional token. It will be sold on the Rarible trading platform. In this case, the asset owner will decide what part of the proceeds will go to charity.
The NFTs themselves will be provided through the Portis wallet. Each nominee will have access to it with a special ticket, put in a gift bag.
The curator of the Nomine(eth) project, Yossi Hasson, expressed this opinion about this activity:
“The primary motivation for the project is to show what non-fungible tokens can do, to talk about our support for charitable programs, and to express our most profound respect to the filmmakers. Therefore, we invite them to create this most significant moment together with the best digital artists of our time and fans of digital creativity.”
It is worth noting that among the NFT works, there is a creation by 3D animator Andre O’Shea. It was created as a tribute to the actor Chadwick Boseman, who gained worldwide fame as King of T’Challa in the movie Black Panther. Boseman left this world in August 2020 with no oncology recruits. However, the actor was posthumously nominated for his role in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. Marketplace Rarible has waived the auction fee, and all profits will be donated to a Colon Cancer Foundation.
Besides, some experts talk about the need for the Hollywood film industry to switch to the blockchain. In their opinion, it should create more space for independent projects through decentralization. Analysts are appealing to the fact that there are more films and TV shows related to cryptocurrencies. So, earlier, it was announced about the filming of a comedy series about the crypto industry. In season 1, 10 episodes are announced, and work on the project will start soon.
At the same time, Nomine(eth) representatives warn that their gift sets are not directly related to the Oscars or the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
